In a time when there seems to be a growing need to publish books like “Popular Lyric Writing - 10 Steps to Effective Storytelling”, when millions of dollars are spent on creating sample libraries that enable their possessors to e.g. create the “original sound of the Fab Four”, when digital plugins promise to emulate the sound of analog tape machines, when the face of pop music randomly twitches, spitting out mutant creations dreamed up in financial despair by confused recording company authorities, something else came into existence…

The Oompahphantasmatron is intended to be a combination of a music creation machine, an installation and a performance instrument. The idea is to use contemporary, state of the art software and technology to build a portable instrument that enables its user to create vintage rock/pop music that sounds like it was recorded by bands in big studios between the 60s and 80’s.
